Hare Warren Ride
Wednesday mornings. Children. Icknield School
Coaches: Hinny White & Gilly Walker.
This account is from 2019. The Coronavirus has meant that we have not met this year.
This has been a very interesting and inspiring time for our Group. Our children have been of extremely mixed ability but at the end of the day they have all managed to make progress and most importantly have really enjoyed their riding.
We have been so pleased to see, in particular Frankie making enormous progress. When she first came to us she was unable to sit on the pony and she was able only to lay on a pad on the ponies back, supported by side walkers. After two or three sessions, with the help of a body belt with loops she could begin to sit with support. Again after three sessions the loops were not used and she was able to sit on the pony without support only the usual help from side walkers.
We also had a Sensory Group visiting for the first time. This was organised by Mary and it was a wonderful occasion. It was extraordinary seeing the response of the ponies to the children and the reaction from the children! It was a great success and perhaps it could be repeated in the Spring.
We are so lucky to have committed and enthusiastic helpers. Our two ponies have been very sweet - It was a great shame that we could not be at the Fun Day, it is always the highlight of the year.
